I believe this radio to be a table top version of the Arborphone 55. I base this on a single print advertisement I have from the October 1928 House Beautiful magazine. The ad is shown to the left. The scan does not show the text very well were it says the radio is a model 55. My radio matches the picture and text. The ad shows a Model 45 at the bottom.

The cabinet for the Arborphone 55 does not have a hinged top. The electronics chassis slides in/out of the rear of the cabinet. The wooden base that the electronics mount on has tongues routed on each side and the cabinet has grooves on each side to receive the chassis.

The circuitry of the Arborphone 55 is similar in construction to the Arborphone 25 and the Arborphone 37-AC. The Model 37 and 55 have the same RF front end module.  They have a four tube RF section which has four tuning sections that are tuned by a single dial via a common shaft. The tuning mechanicals are identical in these radios. The RF section is joined to the AF/Power section via a “Jones” plug.
