Arborphone Radio
Arborphone Radio
Like most Arborphone models this one has no model number marked anywhere on the case or circuity.

Based on print ads I believe this radio was introduced early 1926.

The ad on the left was published in Radio Broadcast February 1926. The ad on the right was published a month later. Even the print ads do not provide a model name.

This particular radio is a combination of two radios that were purchased on Ebay three years apart. The electronics and front panel are from the first purchase and is mated with the cabinet from the second purchase. The cabinet appears to have the original finish and has feet. The circuitry was very dirty but cleaned up real nice. The white lettering on the dials and front panel had disappeared but was easily restored with a white lacquer stick. This first radio came with a set of tubes. After connecting the appropriate power, antenna, ground and horn speaker the radio worked.

Above is a schematic of the early Arborphone radio.  I have had two of these early Arborphone radios.  The circuitry was slightly different between them.  I used Tube Pad to create the schematic.
